The Polish TT Association communicated today the withdrawal of
Piotr CHODORSKI due to serious illness, in the Junior competition at
the Europe Youth Top-10 to be held in Rotterdam (NED) from 30th of
Juanuary to the 1st of February 2009.

The best German player at the Europe Top-10 just starting in
Rotterdam is Patrick FRANZISKA. Young star is currently number five at
the list of competitors in The Netherlands, and number six at the
European rankings. The Top-10 will be FRANZISKA’s premiere this season:
"I had a problem with the knee injury last year. I made a pause and
I did not play. I had some rehabilitation training, power training for
my knees; I did not practice too much table tennis. I came back two
weeks ago, and started to play. This will be my first event". -

This week Europe’s best youth table tennis players finally head to Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
Forty youngsters challenge the four crowns during the Europe Youth Top-10 2009 (30th January-1st February).
The crowd at the "Rotterdam Topsportcentrum" will enjoy 180 matches in just three days (see complete event’s timetable clicking here).

Ma Long won his fifth singles title on the ITTF Pro Tour. The 20
year old Chinese defeated Germany’s, also 20 year old, Dimitrij
Ovtcharov in seven games.The German showed resistance in his
first ever Pro Tour singles final. However, after already eliminating
two players from China, Ovtcharov was stopped by Ma Long, the world
no.3. -

Liu Shiwen was crowned Women’s Singles champion at the ITTF Pro Tour
Danish Open. The 17 year old teenager succeeded in the final in four
straight games against Korea’s Kim Kyung Ah.The way Liu played
in Denmark was impressive. The world n. 22 won all her matches four-nil
except in the second round against Croatia’s Sandra Paovic. -

The German men are performing well at the ITTF Pro Tour Danish Open
in Frederikshavn. All Olympic Team silver medallists reached the
quarter-finals in the Men’s Singles event.After Ovtcharov and
Boll, Christian Süss caused the biggest surprise of the tournament so
far. The 23 year old German eliminated China’s world no. 9 Hao Shuai,
winner of the Slovenian Open a week ago. -

Viktoria and Veronika Pavlovich both reached the quarter-final stage
on the penultimate day at the Danish Open in Frederikshavn. World no.
34 Viktoria overcame Poland’s Li Qian in five games.Veronika (no. 67) for her part eliminated Tamara Boros after saving three match points.

The Swedish bronze medallists from the Liebherr European
Championships proved again to be a strong pair. Robert Svensson and Jon
Persson overcame, in the quarter-finals, the locals Michael Maze and
Kasper Sternberg (picture).The Swedes won by four games to one
and Maze can now fully focus on his singles match in the round of the
last 16 against Frenchman Abdel-Kader Salifou. -

Korea’s Ryu Seung Min belongs to the very best players at the
present time and he is definitely one of the most feared opponents for
the Chinese stars. Like at the Pro Tour event in Slovenia, Ryu’s hopes
for more finished in the second round against a player from China.
