The Swedish bronze medallists from the Liebherr European
Championships proved again to be a strong pair. Robert Svensson and Jon
Persson overcame, in the quarter-finals, the locals Michael Maze and
    Kasper Sternberg (picture).

The Swedes won by four games to one
and Maze can now fully focus on his singles match in the round of the
last 16 against Frenchman Abdel-Kader Salifou.

    Back to Basics
    Robert
Svensson was happy because of two things after the match. "We played
well in service and service return and also quite good in the defence."

The second reason was the prize money. "Of course it’s good to
get the money", he said about the US$1,000 they just had won. "However,
we don’t think too much at that."

    The Danish pair had several
opportunities to come back into the match but Swedish coach Erik Lindh
found the right words when the Danes turned a 2-6 into a 8-7 lead in
the fourth game. "He just told us to go back to basics, not too wild",
Svensson said about the advice they received.
