On duty at the Olympic Games in Sydney, Athens and Beijing, the fast attacking skills of the right handed 28 year old saw her clinch gold in both the Women’s Team and Women’s Singles events.

Just month after Timo BOLL grabbed the third European title in single, made it double in doubles and in team events, German star will be back in Russia. This time, showdown of European stars is scheduled for November 11th and 12th in Moscow. BOLL is coming back to regain his crown from Super Cup’s premiere in Kazan last year.
The Kazan’s finale brought exciting clash between top Europeans players BOLL and Vladimir SAMSONOV of Belarus, which German took in furious style, celebrated 4:0 at the end.

Ruta Paskauskiene is the successor of Holland’s Li Jiao. The 31 year old Lithuanian beat Liu Jia from Austria in six games to be crowned European champion at the Liebherr European Championships on Sunday 12th October.

Timo BOLL vs. Vladimir SAMSONOV is the 2008 Liebherr European Championships’ final in men’s singles: the most exciting, the most expected one between the two continetal top-players. It is the same final than last year in Belgrade, where the German clinched the title for the second time in his career (previous was in Zagreb, 2002).

Joao Monteiro reached the quarter-finals at the Liebherr European Championships in St. Petersburg. The 25 year old Portuguese beat Germany’s Dimitrij Ovtcharov, bronze medallist one year ago.
Monteiro will now face Austria’s Robert Gardos. Gardos only played three games against Belgium’s Jean-Michel Saive before the latter had to give up due to an injury.

Petersburg is most likely Trinko Keen’s last international tournament.
The 37 year old Dutch star will retire and focus on other things.
Keen
has formed a successful doubles partnership with Austria’s Werner
Schlager; after beating the Serbs Karakasevic/Grujic in the quarters;
Keen/Schlager will win at least a bronze medal.
