    This week Europe’s best youth table tennis players finally head to Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

    Forty youngsters challenge the four crowns during the Europe Youth Top-10 2009 (30th January-1st February).

    The crowd at the "Rotterdam Topsportcentrum" will enjoy 180 matches in just three days (see complete event’s timetable clicking here).

    Besides watching the European stars of tomorrow the venue is filled
    with plenty activities. The Netherlands Table Tennis Association (NTTB)
    organized various activities such as children tournaments, speed
    contests and meetings.

    Official kick-off is Friday at 10am with five matches of the Cadet
    Boys. Number 1 seeded Simon GAUZY (France) faces Philip KUIMOV (RUS) in
    his opening match. The session is followed by the Cadet Girls where
    titleholder Petrissa SOLJA (Germany) competes against her fellow
    compatriot Anna KRIEGHOFF.

    Junior Girl Cristina HIRICI (Romania) starts her campaign for glory
    against Camelia POSTOACA. Daniel KOSIBA (Hungary) has an interesting
    match in early stages. The favorite for the Junior Boys title must
    overcome reigning European Cadet Boys champion Gavin EVANS (England). 

    After the first round the Europe Youth Top-10 will be officially opened
    during a short ceremony. All matches played on table no. 1 will be LIVE
    broadcasted online by ETTU TV.

    180 matches in 5 days! What an awesome event. We need more of this sort of excitement and production in the US. I live and breath table tennis and would love to see more high-level tournaments taking place. We need to open folks eyes to how exciting and entertaining a game this is. We also need to undertake efforts to bring in more young players. The countries with the greatest talent pool introduce the sport to children at a very young age. That is the way it works.

    Thank you for an excellent blog and for helping raise awareness in the sport.
