Titles for Xu Xin and Liu Shiwen in Kuwait China’s XU Xin and LIU Shiwen won the respective Men’s and Women’s Singles titles at the Salwa Cup Kuwait Open on Saturday 27th February 2010.

Russia’s Yana NOSKOVA plus the German duo of Sabine WINTER and Petrissa SOLJA, all teenagers, hit form in the qualification stage of the Women’s Singles event at the Qatar Open in Doha on Wednesday 17th February 2010 to cause a hat-trick of upsets.

Vladimir Samsonov of Belarus will lead the European team in the first leg of the Europe versus Asia All Stars Series to be staged in Beijing, China’s capital city, from Tuesday 13th to Thursday 15th April 2010.
Once again, as last year, Germany’s Timo Boll will not be present for the Asian stage of proceedings.

The popular OOAK Table Tennis Forum has been upgraded, with a brand new look and a brand new domain.
The forum graphics has had a complete face-lift, to (1) to give the forum a clear identity of its own as opposed to using a stock theme and (2) to increase usability and legibility of the forum. Posts are now much easier to read and the relevant icons/links easier to see.

In January 2009 it nearly happened at the Slovenian Open and later in the same year in June, it nearly happened at the Japan Open.
In January 2010, it did happen and according to my failing memory, it is the first time it has ever happened, since the ITTF Pro Tour started in the English market town of Kettering in 1996.

Earlier in the year in June, Brazil’s Lincon Yasuda was present in the Central American country of Guatemala for the Latin American Junior Championships and for the Guatemala Junior Open, the 14th stop on the 2009 ITTF Junior Circuit.
He was very successful, the Brazilians excelled and returned home with a host of medals.

Monday evening at around 11:20pm the Volkswagen 2009 Women’s World Cup in Guangzhou concluded. In an epic final China’s Liu Shiwen was crowned as the World Cup Champion at the first time of asking. Moreover, not only did we see a sensational match, those on site were also witness to one of the best ever presented Women’s World Cup. It truly was a fantastic match and one the crowd hugely enjoyed with Liu Shiwen winning in seven games.

At the ongoing Deaflympics in Chinese Taipei being staged from 5th to 15th September 2009, the home team outfought Ukraine in the final of the Men’s Team event.
