World Cup in Liege on Sunday 28th September 2008 by recording a

Wang Hao won 11-7, 5-11, 7-11, 11-5, 11-6, 11-6.
Germany’s Timo Boll brought the Country Hall, Liege to its feet with
a sensational win over second seed Ma Long in the second semi-final at
the Liebherr Men’s World Cup on the morning of Sunday 28th September
2008.
The German won 11-7, 8-11, 11-9, 11-3, 8-11, 8-11, 11-6
China’s Ma Long secured the bronze medal place in the Liebherr Men’s
World Cup in the Country Hall Ethias in the Belgian city of Liège.
He
beat Kalinikos Kreanga in the crucial play off match on the afternoon
of Sunday 28th September 2008 in a contest betweeen two of the world’s
most dynamic table tennis players.
China’s Wang Hao beat Germany’s Timo Boll to clinch gold at the
Liebherr Men’s World Cup in Liège on Sunday 18th September 2008, thus
reversing the verdict of three years earlier and retaining the title he
had won one year ago in Barcelona.
Wang Hao won 11-8, 11-3, 14-16, 11-7, 11-9.
Chinese Taipei’s Chuan Chih-Yuan threatened against China’s Wang Hao
in the second round of matches in Group A of the Liebherr Men’s World
Cup in the Belgian city of Liege on the evening of Friday 26th
September 2008 but at the end of the day it was the man who stands in
top spot on the current ITTF Men’s World Ranking list who prevailed.
The crowd chanted the familiar phrase "Jean-Mi, Jean Mi, allez
Jean-Mi", as always the Liège Legionnaire responded like a Roman
gladiator ready to face the foe in the amphitheatre.
On Friday
26th September 2008, the amphitheatre was the Country Hall Ethias, the
enemy, Europe’s rising star, the innovative Dimitrij Ovtcharov in their
Group D duel.
Timo Boll, the No.3 seed, resigned his defeat earlier in the day
against Kalinikos Kreanga to history and in a thoroughly professional
manner defeated Singapore’s Gao Ning in five games.
The win keeps his hopes of a place in the quarter-finals alive in the Liebherr Men’s World Cup in Liège.
Matters came to a conclusion on the first day of play, Friday 26th
September 2007, at the Liebherr Men’s World Cup in the Belgian city of
Liège with the eventual victors having to withstand spirited recoveries
by their respective adversaries.
Playing in Group D, Korea’s Ryu Seung Min survived against Hong Kong’s Li Ching.
China’s Wang Hao, the number one seed, duly finished his first stage
matches in top position in Group A on the morning of Saturday 27th
October 2008 at the Liebherr Men’s World Cup in Liège; whilst in Group
C, a few minutes later, Kalinikos Kreanga did exactly the same.
