stage of the Men’s Singles event, Mizutani losing to Timo Boll and Süss
to Vladimir Samsonov.
Chinese table tennis queen, the owner of 24 world titles, Wang Nan opened a new chapter of her career in late March. After the glorious retirement after the Beijing Olympic Games and a grand wedding, Wang Nan moved on to a brand new area – now she is a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Young League.

Good news for the 2009 ITTF Pro Tour: the year long competition series is offering now more than US$ 2.8 million dollars.
During the Sportaccord conference in Denver, United States, ITTF Executive Director Jordi Serra signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Peace and Sport’s President Mr. Joël Bouzou.
The MoU aims to build peace-promotion and peace-building programmes worldwide through table tennis.
Ecuador’s Alberto Miño and Colombia’s Paula Medina, both players who
have benefitted from the ITTF Global Junior Programme, won the
respective Under 21 Men’s and Women’s Singles titles at the Latin
American Championships in El Salvador on Wednesday 24th March 2009.
Brazil and Chile emerged as the respective Men’s and Women’s Team
champions at the Latin American Championships in San Salvador on Monday
23rd March 2009; at the final hurdle, Brazil overcame arch rivals
Argentina, whilst Chile defeated Colombia.
Brazil captured both the Men’s and Women’s Doubles titles at the
Latin American Championships in San Salvador on Monday 23rd March 2009
with experience a key factor in the successes.
Certainly that
was the situation in the Men’s Doubles final, where Hugo Hoyama and
Cazuo Matsumoto defeated surprise finalists, Ecuador’s Alberto Miño and
Dino Suarez.
