2003 World champion Werner Schlager is father of a baby boy. Schlager’s life partner Bettina Müller gave birth in Vienna on 3rd February 2009.
The boy is called Nick, was 46 centimetres tall and weighted almost three kilograms. Schlager’s Prudent Cancellation
The expected date of birth was 2nd March, but Nick was about one month sooner. Bettina Müller already created a photo gallery of the nativity of Nick.

After the retirement of Olympic quarter-finalist Wang Chen, the U.S. women’s delegation will consist of young fresh faces at the forthcoming World Championships in Yokohama, Japan.
Ariel Hsing (13) and Lily Zhang (12) convinced selectors with their fine performances at the U.S. National Championships. Of the other nominated players, Gao Jun, Jasna Reed and Crystal Xi Huang, each one is older than the two youngsters together.

The organizers of this year’s Liebherr Europe Top-12 announced
that the Dusseldorf will be host of the same event once again in 2010.
Christian KOKE, sportAgentur Düsseldorf (department of sports, City of
Düsseldorf) pointed: "For a debut we have been quite happy with
the 2009 LIEBHERR Europe Top-12. We hope to improve the number of
spectators next year. This year there were many other sports events at
the same time, e.g. an international match in football, German
Bundesleague football match as well as an indoor meeting in athletics".

Poland’s Li Qian and local hero Timo Boll captured gold at the Liebherr Europe Top 12 in Düsseldorf, Germany.
In high quality finals there were countless spectacular rallies.
Eventually
Boll and Li won the competition thanks to physical as well as mental

In March 2008 it was success for Vladimir Samsonov of Belarus and
China’s Zhang Yining at the Salwa Cup Kuwait Open; just under 12 months
later both will be seeking to stand once again on the top step of the
medal podium when matters come to a conclusion on Sunday 15th February
2009.

Timo BOLL stayed unbeaten at the Liebherr Euro Top-12 in
Dusseldorf. He will play against Michael MAZE in Sunday’s semi final.
SAMSONOV succeeded against CRISAN in long match and he will play
against Kalinikos KREANGA who beat Jorgen PERSSON.

At the opening day at the Liebherr Europe Top-12 top seeded
fought there way to the quarterfinal. German Timo BOLL showed once
again his supremacy in front of home crowd, whilst Belarus Vladimir
SAMSONOV, after great struggle in second match, also secured his passes
among the best eight.

The Burg Wachter Castello hall in Dusseldorf opened the doors for
best European players at 39th Liebherr Europe Top-12 in Dusseldorf. The
best paddlers from the Old Continent were present today at the draw
ceremony and press conference. The leading players in Men’s event
underlined that the competition is very hard in Dusseldorf.

Timo Boll retains his no.4 spot, Dimitrij Ovtcharov moves from no.18
to no.14 and Christian Süss climbs 11 places; he advances from no.42 to
no.31; that is the good news for Germany’s top three male players
following the publication of the Men’s World Ranking list by the
International Table Tennis Federation on Tuesday 3rd February 2009.
