The organizers of this year’s Liebherr Europe Top-12 announced
that the Dusseldorf will be host of the same event once again in 2010.
Christian KOKE, sportAgentur Düsseldorf (department of sports, City of
Düsseldorf) pointed: "For a debut we have been quite happy with
the 2009 LIEBHERR Europe Top-12. We hope to improve the number of
spectators next year. This year there were many other sports events at
the same time, e.g. an international match in football, German
Bundesleague football match as well as an indoor meeting in athletics".
Thomas WEIKERT, President of German Table Tennis Association (DTTB) added: "The
cooperation worked fine before the event and during these two days.
There could have been some more spectators in the hall but the
atmosphere was fine anyway, especially on the final day. We are looking
forward to hosting the LIEBHERR Europe Top-12 next year in Düsseldorf,
too."
Dirk SCHIMMELPFENING, Sports Director DTTB underlined the success of German players in Dusseldorf in past two days: "Timo
BOLL having reached the final, Wu JIADUO in the semis and Dimitrij
OVTCHAROV in the quarter finals - it could hardly be better for the
host nation. Last year Timo has not been in shape, was injured and lost
his group matches. These days he is a little tired but in good shape.
The women’s results show that in Europe there are many players on an
equally top level. "Dudu" is one of them as she proved. Dimtrij had
already proved in Denmark at the Danish Open that he is on his way back
(He was the runner-up.) after a little low after the Olympics. These
results are important for us especially concerning the LIEBHERR
European Championships in September that we host in Stuttgart. Now we
know what we need to work on during the next seven months.".
