Croatian national team player Sandra Paovic’s health situation is improving.
The 26 year old had a serious car accident in late January this year.
In
the Swiss Paraplegic Centre Nottwil (close to Lucerne), the biggest
special clinic of its kind in Europe, Paovic welcomes friends and is
able to stand on her own feet.
Visitors in Nottwil
The
rehabilitation will probably last nine months. Paovic’ boyfriend Marc
Altermatt told tischtennis.de about her condition: "Psychologically
Sandra is quite fine. She fights and practises in the usual manner and
looks forward to visitors."
One of the visits came from Germany.
Her former club mates from the TTK Anröchte have not forgotten her. "We
do it the familiar way in Anröchte", Manfred Vogel, responsible for
female table tennis explained about his club.
Paovic played in
the first Bundesliga between 2005 and 2007. "We always kept in touch
with Sandra. If the TTK succeeds to play in the first division again
one day, our first call will go to Sandra Paovic."
Progress but No Certitude
In the meanwhile, Paovic can stand on her own legs again. However, she cannot walk and relies on a wheel chair.
"Her
physiotherapists are content with the progress so far", boyfriend Marc
stated. "The hands are getting better too, but they develop a bit
slower than her legs. Generally the doctors do not yet want to give a
prognosis for the future.
