varnish is really essential to protect your blade. i used this varnish back when vocs were not illegal, but i can not be sure wheter this has them or not. one of my blades sealed with this passed a VOC test, maybe after long periods of exposure the vocs will all evaporate out.
but anyways, this is great stuff for your blade. it does not cost that much , 10-20 dolalrs, will last your life time. it is serves just like a clear coat on your car, it prevents surface disruption. this can include rubber regluing, and other contact to the surface of the blade. it is worth every enny to buy and protect your paddle.
