Germany’s Timo Boll won the Men’s Singles title at the Polish Open in Warsaw on Sunday 30th November 2008 and in so doing completed a hat-trick of titles on the ITTF Pro Tour.

On Sunday 2nd November he won in Austria and one week ago, on Sunday 23rd November, he won on home soil in Germany.

At the final hurdle he continued his impressive performances with a five games success against Denmark’s Michael Maze. He won 11-3, 11-9, 9-11, 12-10, 11-3.

Including one victory at the Volkswagen ITTF Pro Tour Grand Finals, it was his fifteenth Men’s Singles crown on the ITTF Pro Tour.

    Ascendancy Maintained
Also, he maintained his quite incredible ascendancy over Michael Maze in world ranking events.

It was the seventeenth time that they had met; it was the seventeenth time that Timo Boll had won.

    Second Final
Meanwhile, for Michael Maze it was his second career appearance in an ITTF Pro Tour Men’s Singles final and the first time he had finished in the runners up spot.

On his one and only previous appearance he had finished as the winner; that was in 2004 when he succeeded on home turf in Denmark.

The final place of runner up is somewhat of a return to form, his previous best in 2008 on the ITTF Pro Tour being a quarter-final berth at the Salwa Cup Kuwait Open.

    Bank Balance Grows
In Warsaw, his victory over Cheung Yuk was a confidence boosting win and undoubtedly put his mind in the right mode for his penultimate round contest against Michal Maze.

However, it was Timo Boll who held the aces; victory went to Germany; he departed $16,000 the richer whilst for Maze he banked $8,000.
