Warsaw to Welcome 2011 European Championships
    During
the last meeting before the ETTU Congress was held, the Executive Board
had decided to allocate the 2011 European Championships to the Polish
capital of Warsaw. This year the Polish Table Tennis Federation is
    celebrating its 80th anniversary.

presented its candidature that has gained acceptance and financial
support from Ministry of Sport and Tourism of the Republic of Poland,
the President of Warsaw, the Polish Olympic Committee and local
    authorities.

Poznan, the European Youth Championships in 1980. The 2011 European
Championships (proposed date October 8th to 16th) will be held in the
newly modernized sport venues Torwar 1 and Torwar 2. The Polish
national TV station (PTTF) will broadcast the whole event.

    Table
tennis is becoming more and more popular in Poland, with over 1,200
clubs and around 12,000 players. Moreover leisure table tennis is
played by more than 100,000 people.
