The Congress of the European Table Tennis Union (ETTU) confirmed
Stefano Bosi as its President for the next four years. Deputy
Vice-President Eberhard Schoeler and Vice-President for Finance Camille
Gonderinger were confirmed in their respective positions.
The
only new member in the ETTU Executive Board is Ivo-Goran Munivrana. The
Croatian replaces Petra Sörling, who decided to withdraw her
candidature a few days ago.

The
ETTU also elected six candidates representing Europe to the ITTF Board:
Zdenko Kriz (Slovakia), Alex Murdoch (England), Walter Ronmark
(Sweden), Radivoj Hudetz (Croatia), Dorte Kronsell (Denmark), Gerard
Velten (France) and Aleksandar Matkovic (Serbia).
"It was a
really positive congress", ETTU President Stefano Bosi said. "Since I
felt a real friendly and co-operative atmosphere among all delegates;
the National Associations appreciated for the huge work the ETTU is
doing to make their structure and staff more and more professional."
Warsaw to Welcome 2011 European Championships
During
the last meeting before the ETTU Congress was held, the Executive Board
had decided to allocate the 2011 European Championships to the Polish
capital of Warsaw. This year the Polish Table Tennis Federation is
celebrating its 80th anniversary.
The Warsaw delegation
presented its candidature that has gained acceptance and financial
support from Ministry of Sport and Tourism of the Republic of Poland,
the President of Warsaw, the Polish Olympic Committee and local
authorities.
Poland already hosted a European top event in
Poznan, the European Youth Championships in 1980. The 2011 European
Championships (proposed date October 8th to 16th) will be held in the
newly modernized sport venues Torwar 1 and Torwar 2. The Polish
national TV station (PTTF) will broadcast the whole event.
Table
tennis is becoming more and more popular in Poland, with over 1,200
clubs and around 12,000 players. Moreover leisure table tennis is
played by more than 100,000 people.
