Three years before the London Olympic Games will stage the table tennis events, the sport is gaining popularity throughout the country.
According to a survey conducted by Sport England, table tennis was the only one of the 31 funded sports to significantly increase in terms of young people.
Significant Increase
The online service morethanthegames.co.uk published today that “the on-going Active People survey, involving more than 350,000 interviews demonstrates that table tennis was the only one of the 31 funded sports to significantly increase in terms of young people, aged 16 and upwards, taking part.”
Alex Murdoch, Chairman of the English Table Tennis Association, showed his satisfaction about the positive trend. “These results confirm that the programmes we have put in place with Sport England are making a significant impact on our sport through the community.”
