    China Completes Clean Sweep of Titles in Cartagena de Indias China secured a clean sweep of titles at the Volkswagen World Junior Championships, which concluded in the Colombian city of Cartagena de Indias on Wednesday 16th December 2009.

    FANG Bo emerged as the most successful player in the whole tournament; the 17 year old brought matters to an end by beating colleague, 16 year old YAN An, in four games in the Boys’ Singles final.

    Earlier in the week he had been a member of the successful outfit in the Boys’ Team competition; whilst earlier in the day he had enjoyed victory in both the Mixed Doubles and Boys’ Doubles event.

    He partnered GU Yuting to the top prize in the Mixed Doubles overcoming the Hungarian duo of Daniel KOSIBA and Dora MADARASZ in the final, whilst in the Boys’ Doubles he joined forces with SONG Hongyuan to clinch gold.

    In an all Chinese final, the duo defeated LIN Gaoyuan and YAn An to secure the crown.

    Success for FANG Bo, the no.5 seed in the Boys’ Singles, whilst in the Girls’ Singles competition the top seed prevailed.

    WU Yang beat Chinese national team colleagues in both the semi-final and final stages. The defensive player accounted for CHEN Meng at the penultimate stage before defeating 14 year old GU Yuting in the final.

    Silver for GU Yuting in the Girls’ Singles event but in the Girls’ Doubles competition it was gold; partnering CHEN Meng, the duo beat Korea’s KIM Min Hee and YANG Ha Eun to secure gold.
