Top Seeds Secure Titles in Guangzhou China’s 21 year old MA Long and 18 year old LIU Shiwen won the respective Men’s and Women’s Singles titles at the Volkswagen Cup – Guangzhou on Tuesday 30th March 2010 and, in so doing, each left the southern Chinese city US$50,000 richer and the proud owners of Volkswagen Tiguan Saloon cars.
Jan-Ove Waldner, arguably the world’s best player ever, gave a very candid interview about his career and about the sport of table tennis in current times. The interview was conducted in Swedish by a table tennis forum member known as Anger manager, and was translated into English by OOAK forum Moderator Brabhamista.

Predictable and Unpredictable in Berlin China’s MA Long, the world no1, won the Men’s Singles title at the German Open in Berlin on Sunday 21st March 2010, as his seeding predicted, but in the counterpart Women’s Singles event it was quite the reverse scenario.
Winners of Men’s Doubles titles on the ITTF Pro Tour but never as a pair, Chen Qi and Ma Long secured gold in Berlin to bring proceeding at the 2010 German Open to a close in the early evening of Sunday 21st March 2010.
China’s 21 year Ma Long won the Men’s Singles title at the German Open in Berlin on Sunday 21st March 2010 beating Chinese national team compatriot, Wang Hao, at the final hurdle, in a contest between the two players who occupy first and second places respectively on the ITTF Men’s World Rankings.
Japan’s Ai Fukuhara and Kasumi Ishikawa won their second career ITTF Pro Tour Women’s Doubles title when, in the cauldron of the Max Smeling Halle in Berlin, they beat the Chinese duo of Ding Ning and Li Xiaodan in a tense full distance seven games final at the German Open on Sunday 21st March 2010.

Titles for Xu Xin and Liu Shiwen in Kuwait China’s XU Xin and LIU Shiwen won the respective Men’s and Women’s Singles titles at the Salwa Cup Kuwait Open on Saturday 27th February 2010.

Talented Teenager Terrors Torment Tortured Trio
Russia’s Yana NOSKOVA plus the German duo of Sabine WINTER and Petrissa SOLJA, all teenagers, hit form in the qualification stage of the Women’s Singles event at the Qatar Open in Doha on Wednesday 17th February 2010 to cause a hat-trick of upsets.
Vladimir Samsonov of Belarus will lead the European team in the first leg of the Europe versus Asia All Stars Series to be staged in Beijing, China’s capital city, from Tuesday 13th to Thursday 15th April 2010.
Once again, as last year, Germany’s Timo Boll will not be present for the Asian stage of proceedings.
The popular OOAK Table Tennis Forum has been upgraded, with a brand new look and a brand new domain.
The forum graphics has had a complete face-lift, to (1) to give the forum a clear identity of its own as opposed to using a stock theme and (2) to increase usability and legibility of the forum. Posts are now much easier to read and the relevant icons/links easier to see.
