Denmark caused the biggest upset at the Erke German Open on the opening day of play, Wednesday 19th November 2008, by ending the hopes of Singapore in the opening round of the Men’s Team event.
Seeded two, the Singaporeans were beaten in a contest that went the full five match distance with Michael Maze being the player to pave the way for victory.

Sweden’s 19 year old Fabian Akerstrom was the one player to cause an upset in the morning session of play on Thursday 20th November 2008 at Erke German Open in Berlin.
In the qualification stage of the Men’s Singles event, he beat Japan’s Taku Takakiwa in six games to dent the hopes of the rising Asian stars progress.

The draw floor the second Liebherr Super Cup in Moscow was held today at the hotel Milan in Russians capitol. The first seeded German Timo BOLL was placed at the top of Group A, while the second European at the rankings Belarus Vladimir SAMSONOV leads the pack in group B. Since the two Germans BOLL and Dimitrij OVTCHAROV were separated for the beginning, place two in Group A was allocated to Werner SCHLAGER.

With impressive 12:0 run Timo BOLL was first to reach the semi final of Liebherr Super Cup in Moscow. European champion won Michael MAZE, Werner SCHLAGER, and Zoran PRIMORAC on his way to the second day of the competition. German will play against Jorgen PERSSON on Wenesday 5 PM local time (3 PM CET). In second semifinal, Werner SCHLAGER finds his way through after wins over PRIMORAC and MAZE. He will meet the winner from the Group B Vladimir SAMSONOV at 6 PM (4 PM CET).
