6 Nations to be streamed live from Preston

For the first time in the history of the English Table Tennis Association the Cadet & Junior 6 Nations Championships in Preston this weekend will be streamed live on the internet.

In fact, excluding National Championships and internationals held in England, it will be the first domestic competition to be streamed online and available to all for free.

Tournament organiser Mat Morris said: “It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to continue to take table tennis into the modern age and promote our sport as far and as frequently as possible.

“For the kids involved this weekend it will be a new experience for them and the chance to show their family and friends, who might not have otherwise been able to attend, how they get on in an international event.”

The competition, taking place at the University of Central Lancashire’s (UCLan) Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre (STFSC), will involve players from England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales Guernsey and Isle of Man battling it out for both team and individual honours.

The Manager of UCLan’s Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre (STFSC), Martin Baines, commented: “It’s great that UCLan can play a part in promoting the sport to a wide audience and help to raise the profile of table tennis locally, nationally and even on an international scale by streaming the competition online.

“We are looking forward to welcoming the six table tennis teams to the STFSC who will train and compete at our first-class facility.”

The 6 Nations will take place over three days, beginning at 4pm on Friday 8th March and finishing on Sunday evening.
