Poland and Germany will contest the Men’s Team final at the Erke German Open in Berlin.
In the semi-finals played on Friday 21st November 2008, Poland beat Hong Kong whilst Germany overcame Spain.
Germany and Poland both recorded victories by the margin of three matches to one.
The Germans beat Spain whilst Poland overcame Hong Kong; both victories being true team efforts.
Every member played a vital role as victory was secured and a place in the gold medal contest reserved.
Good Form Maintained
Wang
Zeng Yi maintained the splendid form he has shown throughout the
tournament; he beat Tse Ka Chun in the opening duel against Hong Kong
to give Poland the lead.
In the next contest the odds favoured
Hong Kong with Cheung Yuk facing Jakub Kosowski; however, the Polish
player responded to record a nail-biting five games victory and thus
put his country one step nearer victory.
Defeat Postponed
Hong
Kong delayed defeat with a doubles victory recorded by Cheung Yuk and
Leung Chu Yan over Lucjan Blaszczyk and Jakub Kosowski but it was only
a brief reprieve.
Lucjan Blaszczyk ended matters with victory over Tse Ka Chun, winning in three straight games.
Team Effort
Similarly for Germany all three players contributed to success.
Bastian Steger opened proceedings with victory over Alfredo Carneros before Christian Suss defeated He Zhi Wen.
No Recovery
Spain
levelled with He Zhi Wen and Carlos Macado joining forces to beat
Zoltan Fejer-Konnerth and Bastian Steger but there was to be no great
recovery.
Zoltan Fejer-Konnerth ended matters by beating Alfredo Carneros in three straight games.
